چکیده
Abstract Background Rectovaginal fistula (RVF) after low anterior resection for rectal cancer is troublesome and refractory. Although various surgical procedures have been previously described, no definitive procedure has shown a satisfactory outcome. We present two consecutive Japanese patients who underwent successful surgery an RVF resection. Case presentation The were women (61-year-old 64-year-old). They admitted to our hospital with chief complaint of fecal discharge from the vagina using double-stapling technique cancer. diagnosed RVF. Local procedures, including diverting ileostomy, unsuccessful in previous hospitals. Therefore, we performed laparoscopy-assisted repair In both patients, laparoscopically robust pelvic adhesions dissected, sigmoid colon was transected at just oral side Thereafter, combination perineal approach, rectum, along anastomosis fistula, completely removed. Surgeries completed vaginal repair, redo coloanal anastomosis, interposition dissected connective tissue. postoperative courses uneventful. complained neither recurrence any nor incontinence 1 year 10 months stoma closure. Conclusions A reanastomosis tissue can be effective treatment

The management of a postoperative rectovaginal fistula after low anterior resection for rectal cancer
fistula after low anterior resection for rectal cancer is difficult and requires reconstruction of the anastomotic site and fistula. The results of reconstructive operation are often unsatisfactory. Herein, we describe our reconstruction technique using the posterior approach through the vaginal lumen for a high rectovaginal fistula repair. This reconstructive operation is useful for postoperat...
متن کاملRectovaginal Fistula after Low Anterior Resection for Rectal Cancer Using a Double Stapling Technique
A 55-year-old female underwent low anterior resection for rectal cancer using a double stapling technique. She developed a rectovaginal fistula on the 9th postoperative day. She was discharged from hospital after undergoing transverse colostomy, and 5 months later she underwent transvaginal repair of the rectovaginal fistula. She subsequently had an uneventful recovery. The leading cause of thi...

RVF following this procedure has been considered to be refractory to conservative treatment. CASE PRESENTATION A 75-year-old woman who underwent laparoscopy-assisted low anterior resection for early rectal cancer developed RVF on the 12th postoperative day. Conservat...
